Overview

Sporty yet sophisticated, the 2010 Volkswagen Passat continues to deliver a highly capable ride and a comfortable, well-equipped cabin. For 2010, it receives a number of new standard features, expanding its already extensive list. Bluetooth and an updated audio system with a touchscreen now come standard. Outside, halogen foglights, integrated into the front bumper, join the standard features list. VW also adds new 17-inch Le Mans-style alloy wheels, and offers optional 18-inch Budapest wheels.
In addition, for improved performance, VW upgrades the Passat's transmission, giving the sedan a DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic, which enables drivers to shift manually using steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The DSG transmission shifts faster and smoother than a typical transmission, without any lag or drop in power, according to the automaker. With the shift lever in Tiptronic mode, the system disengages automatic shift and gives all shifting control to the driver.
The new transmission links to a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to provide good off-the-line acceleration. The engine develops 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, pushing the sedan from 0-60 in 7.4 seconds. It manages a fairly decent 22/31 mpg and requires premium fuel for optimal performance.
The front-wheel-drive Passat combines its peppy powertrain with an independent Macpherson strut front and a multilink rear suspension, which provides a firm yet forgiving ride. The Passat exhibits minimal body lean and handles rough roads well, thanks to its stable stance. Electro-mechanical steering ensures tight, precise handling.
The Passat comes in both Kustom Sedan and Kustom Wagon trims for 2010, as well as in low-emissions PZEV (Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle) and SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) trims for sale in certain states. Outside, all trims display rounded, aerodynamic styling, with a long nose, wide-mouthed chrome grille, rectangular headlights, and circular halogen foglights in the front. Side skirts add a sporty look, while on the sedan trims the semicircular roofline tapers to the rear end, with LED taillights and dual exhaust pipes finishing off the look. Wagon trims come equipped with an integrated roof rack and a spoiler atop the rear hatch. Heated power side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals and heated windshield nozzles also come standard.
Inside, passengers will find a comfortable, driver-focused cabin with plenty of storage space. Ample legroom in both the first and second rows lets passengers stretch out, although taller passengers might find a tight fit, since headroom measures less than 40 inches throughout the cabin, due to the low roof. The seats are generally comfortable, with good support for all but the longest trips. V-Tex leatherette comes standard throughout the cabin, while the driver and passenger also get heated front seats. The driver's seat features 12-way power adjustment, while the passenger seat power-adjusts eight ways.
Other standard features in the cabin include a power glass sunroof, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, and Bluetooth. The updated eight-speaker AM/FM audio system, with its new touchscreen, also includes a 6-CD changer, Sirius satellite radio, and an MP3 input jack. Optional features include a navigation system with a 6.5-inch color touchscreen and 30GB hard disk.
The 60/40-split rear seat folds down and includes a pass-through to expand cargo space, which measures 14.2 cubic feet for the sedan. The more functional wagon offers 35.8 cubic feet of rear cargo space with the second row up and in place, and 72.6 cubic feet with the second row folded down. Tiedowns and a cargo organizer come standard.
Safety features include antilock brakes and an Electronic Stabilization Program with hydraulic brake assist. A full range of airbags, including dual front-side and side curtain airbags, also comes standard, with an option to add rear side-curtain bags.

I need relatively low mileage and high-end interior equipment, including for example steering wheel controls for radio and telephone.

This 2010 is truly the last of the good performance Passats. VW blew it with the underpowered 2012+. It is simply a blast to drive. The 2.0L turbo w/ 200 hp is amazingly responsive and FAST! No wonder they hold their value....they are excellent cars! Only issues were 2 recalls for ignition coil & fuel injection

Slightly different to the standard Passat, it has a more racked apperance and comes with loads of standard extras. Parking sensors are a must as visibility is a little restrictive through the rear window. Would definetly recommend to others as a family car with a bit more styling.
