Used Subaru Legacy for Sale near Trenton, NJ
A redesign that focuses on improved safety and extra interior space are the major changes to the 2000 Subaru Legacy. A new GT and GT Limited trim are also added this year. The full-AWD 2000 Legacy is offered in both sedan and wagon versions, all with a 2.5-liter boxer H4 engine that now gets 165-hp with a single-cam engine replacing the dual-cam. A 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic is available.
Sedans come in L, GT, and GT Limited, all with standard ABS brakes, full power features, and dual front airbags. The GT Limited also has side impact bags. Wagons come in base Brighton, L, and GT. The Brighton has power windows, but full power features are only found on L and GT. All GT models come with a dual-pane sunroof, limited slip differential, sport suspension, and power seats. The GT Limited adds a CD player and leather seats. Rear seats split-fold only in the wagon, not the sedan, to expand on cargo space. The 2000 Legacy has been redesigned with a stiffer body frame and safety features to improve crash ratings. Other additions include front and rear cupholders, daytime running lights, and a larger instrument panel.
The AWD is the biggest selling point for the 2000 Legacy, which led the Subaru lineup in offering the system. Drivers in cold climates say its reliable and powerful. Other favorite features include tight handling, the sporty feel of the GT, and the good gas mileage (around 22/27 mpg). Downsides are cramped legroom overall, the need for lumbar support, and a desire for more horsepower. There are reports of a leaky sunroof and transmission problems in the 2000 Subaru Legacy.
4.6 Overall rating
(25 reviews)I think overall this car is a very great value and buy. I love the interior and the well rounded power train. The 5 speed manual transmission is very precise and shifts are very smooth. The All Wheel Drive is a great system and is full time.
Performance - Acceleration and speed are mind blowing due to twin turbo set-up pumping out 280bhp with 4wd. 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. Appearance - The RFRB bodykit sets it apart from other legacy's, even though they are rare enough anyway. Cost of ownership - gas mileage isnt the best, but this car is not supposed to sip fuel, it guzzles it down, its a power car, not a prius. Also needs regular oil changes to ensure turbo is runnig to the best of its ability. This car is super fun to drive.
The Subaru Legacy (2000-2004) is very comfortable ride and sporty handling. It needs way more power, however. It has lots of trunk space and looks great with 17" wheels. Gas mileage is fair, usually averaging 25-26mpg with mixed driving.
Although this car doesn't have a huge amount of power it has a flat four engine and is a saloon with permanent all wheel drive so it's centre of gravity is very low and so it corners exceptionally well.
Not enough boost for me when i step on it, but it does have 90000+ on it so its understandable. Wish the one i have could be a manual. All in all, not a bad car to drive for me.
