(5 reviews)the first wagon we had with 3 rows of seats.. one major flaw...a single AC unit... those people in the back... LOL roasted chicken. space was awesome... another major flaw.. tranny's kept blowing.. i had it as a hand me down from my wife when she upgraded to the Suzuki XL-7
it has 7 seating capacity but you can barely fit 5, unless the people are all under 5 feet tall. you can move the seats around nicely but if you move the middle seats forward for the rear passengers it takes away 90% to 100% of the leg room for the middle. anyone over 5'8 will feel cramped in leg room in the front seat passenger but will be alright with head room. from experience it doesn't like allot of weight. i tried hauling 5 friends averaging 150-200 lbs and i could feel the car "crying" but if its cargo your moving you have tons of room as the seats can fold down or stay half up. its a fun car and the millage is probably alright its just hard to say as i am comparing it to my 93 colt.
It's got a quick and strong motor. 2.0 GLXi with 133hp. Low gearing makes it a quick car (i will compare the acceleration with an Golf MK2 GTI 16v) Bad on snowy/icy roads. Spins and skids. No traction at all. Good mini van/worker van.
One of the first "crossover" wagons. It was basically a wagon that could easily transport up to seven passengers with the third row seats up. With the rear most seat downs, it's cargo capacity was huge. Performance was it's best attribute, but it was adequeate for around town driving. Build quality was very good, but reliability suffered due to bad transmissions that began to fail after 60K miles. Looks were a bit ahead of it's time for the vehicle. Maintenance and cost of ownership was very low (with the exception of the transmission problem, which in some cases dealers took care of even after warranty had expired). I loved this vehicle. It was very practical and it fit perfectly my active lifestyle. I used to carry 5 passengers, mountain bikes and gear very easily.
Power windows and locks make life so easy. The motor is stil good at 150,000 miles, with a new timing chain. I am having difficulty finding a good used transmission, but, honestly I guess it could be the mechanic (GO WITH A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST!) ...probably should have just had it rebuilt with a warranty and saved the hassle. I love the little car...I bought it to fix and sell, but, I may just keep it for myself!
