Volkswagen made minor changes to its popular Beetle for 1960. In an effort to upgrade the steering system, upgrades were made to the steering wheel (which was recessed for safety) and the steering box, and a steering dampener was added. The seat backs were recontoured, and the outside door handles were revamped with a push button (instead of a pull-type). In addition, the output of the generator was increased from 160 to 180 watts. Other than that, the Volkswagen Beetle remained essentially the same as it had been in previous years, which was part of its appeal. In a year when sales of other foreign cars were dropping, the Beetle's sales remained steady, probably because the car was dependable, easy to maintain, inexpensive to own and drive, and unique. As in previous years, the 1960 Beetle came with a four-cylinder, four-stroke 1200cc air-cooled engine that generated 36 horsepower. It was mounted in the rear, so that its weight provided traction to the rear wheels. A four-speed transmission, independent front suspension and telescopic shock absorbers were also part of the Beetle package. Color options for the 1960 Beetle included black, ruby red, pastel blue, beryl green, turqoise, pearl white, and gulf blue.

This is a very old car, 50 years to be exact. It has a 1100 CC motor which outputs about 28 HP. I like this car mainly b/c it has been in my family for 3 generations and is still kicking. 6-volt power system, radio is AM only and uses tubes instead of transistors!

Performance,I dont know so much how much it accelarates as i never crossed the 90km per hour with it,it doesn't need to accelarate to have fun with it.:) braking system is everywhere new so brakes are ok,handling is ok,it doesn't squeeks or rattles as it has new engine rebuilt in the back, Appearance-let's say it's half way done,remain the interior and some modifications in the engine bay. The bug is fun to drive especially in summer or beutiful days of the year,its a car with a heart for me.I love it.

its a baja beetle ............glorified dune buggy......i have plans for it to be lifted and modified more it has roll cage hurst shift kit and need motor rebuilt and some rust attention a little tlc and she be good as new. off road bumpers and nerf bars....

hot maroon beetles 1600 cc microbus engine crazy accelerating compared to beetles with maximum speed 160 km/hr as it's the maximum for my gauge ,Planning to but header for it to increase the hourse power. but poor braking :) i dont think i can stop it when am over 90 km/hr:). for the handling mine is amazing and for the stability too as i have 15" rims BBS with 195/55 tires which gives my kalbz more stability,about the light i have zenon lights for my kalbz appreance i have mettalic paint skins interior i have 2 red sparco seats, Auto gauge RPM, Poineer CD player with 2 rear kenwood speaker and 2 front poineer speakers which makes me feel as high when i listen to pink floyd :). and for i have great fun to drive it spcially when i meet cool guy driving a new car and think it's just beetle then after suffering in running with it i can smile from his face impression after pumping my pedal to maximum at Last all i can say It's a CAR WITH CHARECTER NOT ONLY A CAR AS IT'S THE ONLY CAR PPL DID 2 MOVIES ABOUT IT:)
