1996 Honda Accord LX Coupe Review
by Andrew

My Honda Accord LX 2 Door

First Car. Good Quality except for a few problems. For a car from 1996 and the mileage no major surprises. For 140,000+ miles it ran strong. Gets up and goes. Very fuel efficient. High 20s low 30s mpg. Cost of ownership wasn't too bad. I loved the car and it was a lot of fun to drive. Drove it many miles and had many great memories with it. I would...

Average time on market: 8 days Certified Pre-Owned: No Transmission: 4-Speed Automatic Color: Burgandy Description: Used 1997 Honda Accord Special Edition for sale - $1,995, 223,000 miles with Sunroof/Moonroof
Avg. Dealer Rating: (15 reviews) "Pleasant and polite over the phone, likewise in person. They said all the same old usual things to apply a little pressure to follow through with the purchase but nothing I had not heard before. You get a little caught up in their game because there is only one owner with two subordinate salesmen and you never get ahold of the same one each time. They seem to be a little behind in technology as they can only fax information and they were communicating via their private cell phone lines with no names coming up on caller id other than private. Beyond that, the car is very sweeeet but it does have some discrepancies that they did not disclose upfront. First, the mileage was 78,575 when I got in it to take a test drive which is 4,575 of unaccounted for mileage. Luckily for me and via the Carfax, the Baron BMW of Kansas City, KS has the rest of its service history as it originated from them as a prior lease. I found that to be very cool! Second, there were some minor exterior discrepancies such as minor damage to a couple of the rims which I can almost guarantee yields from careless transport from auction to dealer. Third, I have not yet been able to determine if the power/hydraulic steering fluid is low as the vehicle has an indicator light that reflects the vehicle to be resting uneven or at a slight angle towards the driver's side. The car manual says it could either be a leak or simply low on fluid, so not sure yet. Further, I have not been able to confirm this fluid problem because both of the hood shocks do not stay up and hold hood in the up/open position. I priced them and they are $59 each at Auto Zone. I still like the car and I figured there would be some flaws that I would have to correct with it having the mileage that it did. The car only takes 91% octane gas which can get a little pricey too but that is the price I pay for luxury. Finally, the total price out the door ended up being $10,867.60. Since the car is Blue Book valued at $12,000.00 in "Good Condition", I feel that all in all, I still got 90% of the desired car and a fairly good deal. One last thing, Frieling seemed to have a predominant inventory of trucks and American made vehicles which could be another reason they wanted to part with this car for this price. When I had talked with the two older subordinate salesmen they each made references to the fact that there were things on the car that they were not sure how they worked because know one there could figure it out. Irregardless, both salesmen and the owner were very friendly and overall nice and easy to work with and I would do business with them again in the future:)"
