| “Great Student Car... Back In The Day” Mine was almost flourescent yellow in color, 4 door, automatic with an after market ac unit. Black vinyl interior that killed you in the summer time. Was great to put the surfboards on the roof and head to the beach. Great on gas and because of the design, really did well on fast corners.
Pros —
(at the time): cheap on gas, affordable, easy to maintain, something different
Cons —
None that I can tell

| “Sporty, Stylish For The Time And Very Fun To Drive!”
I don't recall a lot of the specs of this car...I'm pretty sure it had a Rabbit 1.6L engine, but
Pros —
looked good, quick, fun, practical, economical
Cons —
a bit boxy

There's nothing like complaining about getting "only" 55 mpg!! Even my 2002 TDI only got that once. No, it was not fast when the light changed, but I made up for lost time by only going to the "carrot juice" station once every 550 to 650 miles. And, because it is a cozy car, I didn't have to drive all the children in the neighborhood to soccer practice. |

Carried me through my daughters birth through age fifteen, law school, a bone marrow transplant, remission, PA bar membership, 5 years traveling between Philly and DC,revived by my dad from a fire under the hood resulting from my failure to put the oil cap back on,two break-ins, regrettably donated to charity in 2002. |
