1985 BMW 535 Reviews
| “The E28; Rolling Death Trap.” Reviewing:
1985 Used BMW 535i
Hunk o' German metal. By the time I got it, it was well past its prime. it still ran strong, but all the secondary systems were breaking. Fun car, but destined to end up a parts car for a more maintained E28.
Pros —
Strong engine.
Cons —
None, if maintained.

1985 Used BMW 535i
I love this car- it is a 1987 BMW 535i. It still maintains 25+mpg on the freeway with regular gas, and even with over 206,000 miles it feels very solid over 140mph. It keeps up with modern cars easily, but has much more character. Many people do not know what it is before they see the BMW Rondel, which is another bonus. 0-60 takes under 6.5 seconds. and I have kept it stock. The inline 6 sounds amazing, and I have never had any problems with it (I bought it 6 years & 56,000 miles ago). With routine maintance, these cars will go a VERY long way! These cars are also loaded with features- even if they are base models. The computers have hidden tricks to them that mean you can change things without having to go to the dealer all the time, which adds to the simplicity of the ergonomics and the customizing of how you want your car to fit you without all the buttons and computer screens in modern cars. The downside is that the car originally came with metric rims and tires, which meant I had to replace the wheels to get tires if I wanted to spend less than $450 per tire. I would HIGHLY recommend these cars as a starter car for someone, or a true enthusiast. If you get one in bad shape though, the costs can add up quickly, so be sure to inspect it and certify the history.
Pros —
the engine, ergonomics, suspension, handling, build quality
Cons —
maintenance costs

Daily driven through rain, sleet, and snow and the heat of the summer... for years.
Pros —
Rugged and willing to slide. Inexpensive to run, but very comfortable enough for grand
touring.
Cons —
Getting on in years, loosing its performance and styling edge. Starting to get confused
with just another old car. |
| “Solid German Engineering” Reviewing:
1985 Used BMW 535i
A masterpiece when new, and now aging nicely into and everyday clasic, has travelled over 300,000 kms not a drop of oil tight steering and gearbox, a very well built car good for another 300,000 with schedualed servicing being the only maintanence we have ever put into her
Pros —
supper comfort and reliability
Cons —
fuel consumption
