1997 Ford Explorer Reviews
| “Explorer” Reviewing:
1997 Used Ford Explorer 4 Dr XLT 4WD SUV
Its a tank with 167,000 miles..... Good Rescue car. Great 4x4, never gets stuck. Good for hauling people or small trailers. Ok on Gas, but not great. Good looking and not alot of rust on the truck. I would not trade it in for anything else right now. Its great for what I use it for.
Pros —
good off road, never been stuck,
Cons —
Not so great on gas.... 20-25 mpg at best on highway

| “Not Bad For A Truck, But It Could Use More Power, And A Lower Center Of Gravity” Reviewing:
1997 Used Ford Explorer 4 Dr XLT 4WD SUV
i think it's a nice vehicle overall. but due to a high profile and narrow stance, it does like to lean on fast turns. it has a decent-sized 4.0 v6 which is pretty good on acceleration for a truck but requires quite a push going up steep hills. the interior has well placed switches and a good display of gauges.
Pros —
nice handling, decent interior, good cargo room, spacious front seats, suv-looks
4wd
Cons —
wimpy giddiup on steep hills, center of gravity not low enough, needs more ground clearance, very aggressive tires needed for snow

1997 Used Ford Explorer 4 Dr Eddie Bauer SUV
its one of the most common and most reliable SUVs on the road right now (compared to other '97 SUVs)

| “Built Ford Tough” Reviewing:
1997 Used Ford Explorer 4 Dr XLT SUV
This car came with leather seats, cruise control, and a powerful engine. Even though it is my first car I can't imagine driving something else.
Pros —
5.0 V8
Cons —
gets stuck in sand easily

| “Solid, Dependable Workhorse” Reviewing:
1997 Used Ford Explorer 4 Dr XLT SUV
I've had the pleasure of driving this vehicle for the past 2 years, and while it doesn't accelerate very fast or set new speed records, it handles quite well and carries a whole lot of stuff. A lot of people hate the Explorer, and I can't see why. It's a great car for the money, and very reliable.
Pros —
Comfort, visibility, handling, amenities for the price.
Cons —
Somewhat sluggish, poor fuel economy.

| “This Car Rocked!!” Reviewing:
1997 Used Ford Explorer 4 Dr XL SUV
It may have had it's problems, but I swear this was the funnest vehicle to pull a 360 on a wet road in. Mine had the fog lights and everything, so when it was real bright outside with the moon, we'd turn all the lights off. Gawd, I miss this one.
Pros —
Had lots of room. I fit so many people in it. The cargo area came in handy.
Cons —
Had more tranny problems than it was worth.

1997 Used Ford Explorer 2 Dr Sport 4WD SUV
Mines white, with a nice hole in the grill from a bastardly deer. It has a CAI added, with the exhaust cut short. I have 30.5X10.5X16 on it. I also added a Sony Explode Head unit, and I have two Pioneer 12" subs awaiting an amp in the back
Pros —
2 dr SUV, v6, small and quick, fun of a truck without the size of one.
Cons —
2 dr SUV, v6, it just doesn't compare to the mustang
