Named for the Targa Florio, a road race held in Sicily, Italy, the 2005 Porsche 911 Targa was an open-top two-seat roadster powered by a 3.5-liter double-overhead-cam six-cylinder engine that produced 325 horsepower. The engine was linked to a six-speed manual transmission, which was standard.
Like the Porsche Targas of previous years, the 2005 911 Targa had a specially designed roof, which retracted for an open-top driving experience.
Standard features for the Targa included air conditioning, power steering, power windows, remote power door locks, cruise control, leather seats and interior trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power adjustable driver's seat, power exterior heated mirrors, dual front and side airbags, an anti-theft alarm system, and an AM/FM stereo system with a CD player.
A rear spoiler, fog lights, alloy wheels, anti-lock brakes, and 17-inch wheels were also part of the package.
