2005 MINI Cooper Hatchback

The MINI Cooper standard two-door hatchback received a minor styling update for 2005, with a new front grille, bumpers, headlights, and taillights. Power was provided by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 115 horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, while a continuously variable automatic transmission (also known as a CVT) was available as an option.

The MINI Cooper was well-equipped with such standard features as air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, dual front and side airbags, an AM/FM stereo system with a CD player, remote keyless entry, and anti-lock brakes. A sunroof, leather seats, and a navigation system were among the options.

Drivers overwhelmingly thought the MINI Cooper was a fun car to drive, and that fun factor, along with the car's economy and cuteness factor, was the major reason cited for buying the car. Some drivers, however, thought the car was a bit stiff over the road, with a ride that could be bumpy at times. Handling, stability, and reliability were other positive points cited by drivers.
