2009 Nissan Versa S Hatchback

Offering five doors and plenty of cargo space despite its subcompact size, the 2009 Nissan Versa S Hatchback includes such features as 60/40-split fold-down rear seats, a one-touch rear hatchback release, and an intermittent windshield wiper with washer for the hatchback window. Outside, the Versa S Hatchback comes equipped with power exterior mirrors and chrome grille accents. Inside, the Versa S Hatchback includes such features as suede cloth seats, air conditioning, a tilt steering column, front and rear cupholders, silver interior accents, and a cargo-area cover. A four-speaker AM/FM audio system with a CD player also comes standard. Owners can add cruise control as an option, and an available Power Package adds such features as remote keyless entry, power windows and door locks, and rear-door map pockets. The front seats manually adjust four ways. Standard safety features include dual-stage front airbags, front-seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags.

A 1.8-liter, double-overhead-cam four-cylinder engine generating 122 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque powers the Versa S Hatchback. The engine links to a six-speed manual transmission or an available four-speed automatic transmission. The Versa S achieves 26/31 mpg with the manual transmission and 24/32 with the automatic. An independent front suspension, ripple-control shock absorbers, and electric power-assisted steering all come standard. An optional ABS package adds antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution, which allocates brake pressure in emergency situations to ensure optimal stopping power. The Versa S rides on 15-inch wheels with all-season tires.
