2009 Ford Flex SEL

The 2009 Ford Flex SEL represents the middle trim in the lineup for this new crossover. As such, it adds some luxurious features. The wagon seats seven in three rows, with legroom measuring 40 inches in the front and 44 inches in the second row. Both second- and third-row benches split-fold flat (60/40 and 50/50 respectively), along with the front passenger seat, expanding the 15-cubic-foot trunk to 83 cubic feet. Roof rails and a towing harness can be added for up to 4,100 pounds of towing capacity. This comes care of a 262-hp, 3.5-liter DOHC V6 and 9-speed automatic.

The front-wheel-drive 2009 Flex SEL features leather upholstery and adds a 6-way power passenger seat and a 10-way power driver's seat to standard equipment. Other upgrades include heated mirrors and heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a 6-CD player with MP3 input and satellite radio, heard through premium Sony speakers. Wood accents join the leather and alloy trim already present. Other standard features include a full power setup, keypad entry, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, a trip computer, a temperature display and compass, a security system, and intermittent front and rear wipers. Ten cupholders cover all rows, and there are three power outlets (one in the trunk). Available options for the SEL are the Vista sunroof, with three panels for each row, and a mini refrigerator. Other options include a DVD player, memory settings for the driver, power-adjustable pedals, second-row captain's chairs, and LED interior lighting.

The 2009 Flex SEL rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, a front stabilizer bar, and traction and stability control. There are side curtain airbags for all rows, along with dual front-side airbags with passenger deactivation. Backup sensors, automatic halogen headlamps, foglights, a tire monitor, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror round out the equipment list. HID xenon headlamps are available.
