The 2008 Ford Edge SE AWD trim adds an active all-wheel-drive system to the SE's standard feature package. A 265-horsepower, 3.5-liter Duratec 35 V6 engine, designed for both performance and fuel efficiency, powers the Edge SE, while an AdvanceTrac system with Roll Stability Control, MacPherson struts, and an independent suspension provide good traction, stability, and handling. Fold-flat reat seats can be stowed away to provide nearly 70 cubic feet of cargo space. With all seats up and in place, the Edge SE AWD seats five comfortably.

Standard features for the Edge SE AWD include remote keyless entry, one-touch power windows, power door locks, power exterior mirrors, steering-wheel-mounted cruise controls, and a four-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system with an MP3 input jack. Also included are quad-beam halogen headlights, solar-tinted side windows, and Ford's Safety Canopy System, which consists of side-curtain airbags with a rollover sensor. Options include a six-disc in-dash CD player with steering-wheel-mounted audio controls.

Drivers and reviewers give good marks overall to the Edge SE AWD, and most agree that the stylish and sporty vehicle is a good value. The Edge SE AWD receives its only negative mark for its brakes, which don't provide the stopping power they should for a vehicle in this class, according to recent tests.
