[Edit] A step up from the entry-level Corolla CE, the 2008 Toyota Corolla S comes with an upgraded list of standard features, including integrated front fog lights and a six-speaker AM/FM audio system with a CD player.
It also received a design refresh for 2008, which included a more aerodynamic front end with an edgier front fascia treatment and multi-reflector halogen headlights and smoked lenses. Other exterior elements include color-keyed protective body-side moldings, a chrome grille surround, and color-keyed power remote-controlled exterior mirrors.
Standard features for the 2008 Corolla S include a direct tire pressure monitoring system, a tilt steering wheel, a 60/40 split fold-down rear seat, and 15-inch wheels.
The Corolla S's 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine provides 126 horsepower, which is adequate but not overwhelming power. The engine links to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.
Also optional are such features as cruise control, side-mounted airbags, a power tilt/slide moonroof, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, an upgraded JBL stereo system with a CD changer, and a four-wheel antilock brake system with electronic brake force distribution.
