[Edit] A manually folding convertible roof turns this Corvette into an open-air road monster. The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible features a new 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine, with a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Together, they deliver 430 hp and 424 ft-lbs of torque, with 0-60 times around 4 seconds. The rear-wheel-drive coupe features a rear limited-slip differential and double-wishbone front and rear suspension, with the option to add a selective suspension (two modes: Sport and Touring), larger brakes, and the Z06's dual exhaust.
Standard safety and performance equipment on the 2008 Corvette Convertible includes 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, dual front-side airbags with passenger deactivation, and traction and stability control. OnStar is also standard, along with automatic headlights, xenon HID lamps, daytime running lights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and foglights. A tire monitor measures pressure in the 18-inch front and 19-inch rear painted alloy wheels with run-flat tires. An optional performance package adds stiffer springs, larger brakes, and performance shocks.
Inside the two-seater you get power windows, locks, and heated mirrors, along with remote entry, keyless start, cruise control, a trip computer, and a 6-way power driver's seat. The Convertible trim adds a 6-way power passenger seat. The seats are covered in two-tone leather, with leather and alloy trim on the steering wheel, shifter, doors, and dash. A CD/MP3 player features an MP3 input jack and satellite radio and can be upgraded to a 6-CD player with a 7-speaker Bose sound system. Intermittent wipers, dual-zone climate control, hands-free phone controls, a temperature display and compass, two front power outlets, and a security system complete the standard package. A cargo net sits in the 11-cubic-foot trunk. Options add heated seats, a power convertible top, front seat memory settings, a garage opener, navigation system, heads-up display, and telescopic steering.
