2008 Mercury Mariner Base AWD

The Mercury Mariner Base AWD model features new exterior styling and a redesigned interior for 2008. The compact SUV is powered by a 2.3-liter inline four-cylinder engine that produces 153 horsepower. A four-speed electronic automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The SUV is also equipped with an intelligent four-wheel-drive system that monitors traction 200 tunes per second and applies torque automatically to minimize slipping.

Standard features for the Mercury Mariner Base model include a leather-wrapped steering wheel with speed control, power windows, a message center with compass display, and ice blue interior lighting, which includes lighting for the instrument panel, window switches, door locks, and steering wheel controls. The interior is also equipped with a satellite-ready AM/FM stereo system with an in-dash CD player and an MP3 input jack.

Other features include a tire-pressure monitoring system, front and side curtain airbags, an antilock braking system, fog lamps, a keyless entry system, a remote entry system, and a passive anti-theft alarm system. Power-adjustable exterior mirrors and 16-inch, six-spoke aluminum wheels were also part of the package.
