Toyota has completely redesigned this small crossover SUV for 2006.  The RAV is no longer built atop the Corolla platform, and a new foundation allows for a larger frame and longer wheel base.  The RAV4 is now spacious enough for a third row of seating, but these are best for smaller passengers.

The Limited is the top level trim.  Features for the Limited include dual zone climate control, 17-inch wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, an in-dash CD changer, power folding mirrors, and a power driver's seat.  All RAV4s get Toyota's Star Safety System, complete with Vehicle Stability Control + Traction Control, and ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist.

The RAV's base engine 2.4 liter DOHC inline four, supplying 166 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque, which is a bit more power than last year. All four cylinder engines are mated to a four speed automatic transmission.  

The considerably high 23/27 mpg fuel economy is due to Toyota's unique 4WD system.  Power is sent to the front wheels in normal driving conditions, and only redistributes to the rear wheels when a loss of traction.
