A boxer H6 engine is featured in the 2006 Subaru Outback 3.0R Wagon. Only available as a wagon (the sedan counterpart is now the L.L. Bean sedan), the 3.0-liter H6 gets 250-hp and is paired with a 5-speed shiftable automatic transmission. The 2006 Outback 3.0R adds standard traction control and a tire monitor to the ABS brakes, dual front-side and head airbags, foglights, mirror turn signals, 17-inch all-season tires, and all-wheel drive with limited slip differential. A hatch rear spoiler, roof rack, cargo cover and tie-downs, and split-fold 60/40 rear seats are standard characteristics of all Outback wagons.
The 2006 Outback 3.0R is similar to the XT in terms of equipment. An 8-way power driver's seat, keyless entry, trip computer, heated front seats, power accessories, intermittent front and rear wipers, cruise control, a trip computer, 6-CD changer, and dual-zone climate control are all standard. You can add a trailer hitch (to tow up to 2700 pounds), a garage opener, leather shifter, skid plates, and roof rack attachments for bikes and skis. AWD performance, a quiet ride, easy car-like handling that surpasses bulky SUVs, and power are high points for drivers. Low points include gas mileage and the small backseat.
