2004 Volvo V70 T5 Summary
The granddaddy of Volvo V70s is anything but your granddaddy's station wagon. Stylish and strong, it takes on snowfall and road-trip cargo without a blink.
The 2.3-liter engine packs 247 horses. With all-wheel drive, it delivers about 19 city miles per gallon and 25 on the highway. Anecdotal accounts often claim higher returns, but 19/25 does sound perfectly realistic for this car. Two transmissions were available: the standard 5-speed manual overdrive and optional 5-speed automatic.
As long as there are turbocharged Volvos there will always be complaints about turbo lag and torque steer. All the same, the general opinion of T5 drivers is that this is a wonderful car: comfortable, safe, and great-looking. Many buyers test-drove several competing cars and determined this one to be the best value.
