The 2006 MINI Cooper two-door convertible featured a powered soft-top roof that resembled a hardtop roof when in place. The convertible top opened fully in just 15 seconds, or could be opened partially like a sunroof. When open, the roof stowed in a compartment above the trunk. The convertible top came with a heated rear glass window.
The MINI Cooper convertible was powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 115 horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, while a continuously variable automatic transmission (also known as a CVT) was available as an option.
The MINI Cooper convertible was well-equipped with such standard features as air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, dual front and side airbags, an AM/FM stereo system with a CD player, remote keyless entry, and anti-lock brakes. Leather seats and a navigation system were among the options.
Overall, drivers thought the MINI Cooper was a fun car to drive, with quick acceleration, a sporty ride, and pinpoint handling, all in a package you could easily park just about anywhere. Some drivers noted that the back seat was a tight fit for anyone older than a teenager, and that the ride could be a little too stiff at times, but overall drivers gave the MINI Cooper high marks.
