Farfegnugen For Real — The 2006 model had enough seasons under its belt that teh little naggy things have been worked out and the new large MINI (oxymoronic, isn't it?)is losing its direction. The Cooper S is not particularily an economy car as it has peppy torque and horsepower. It is a great city car and a very good long drive car. The car may accommodate some drivers up to 6'9" (I am 6'5" and drive it easily) something a 5-series BMW cannot! Quality is quite high, but the run-flat tyres are expensive and wear mightily. Very fun to drive and good value retention are coupled with reasonable mileage. Primary Use: Family transportation

Minis Rule. — best purchase i've ever made! it's also my first. its so tiny on the outside, but once in the cockpit, there is tons or room. its a tiny car with big time luxury. its a little rocket! i love this car and will keep it forever. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Ever See "the Italian Job"? — Quick, responsive, holds the road, fun to drive. Gas mileage around 30mpg on the highway. I've had the car for 3more than 3 years and nothing's gone wrong. Needed new tires - but part my fault for not having them rotated. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsI love this car. It is an absolute blast!! Park it anywhere, great gas mileage, people love to ask me about it. It makes a statement. Everyone should drive a Mini! ConsMy baby doesn't fit in it, so we have to get a more family oriented car.

Firecracker On Wheels — I love this car. I saved for years to be able to afford it. It is light weight, you can park almost anywhere. I always feel in control, it brakes and handles superbly. Definitely worth the money. It is a driving experience! Primary Use: Commuting to work

More Mini's Please~ — the green mini is cute, but in this environment (dusty and moon rocks) is unhappy, as I've got to slolem past boulders and craters, actually dodged a crater, then smashed the passenger mirror into a blue recycling bin, the bin tipped over and the mirror spider cracked...this town and the MINI are having problems getting along~ the town.....Clearlake, CA. , the poorest town in northern California...there ain't on streetlights, there ain't no good roads....it's a bust automotively...now if a 4x4 would be right at home here~ Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsFun, fun, fun to drive! Excellent mileage and still has super-charged power. Go-kart handling. Easy to park in dense downtown areas. I drove it in deep snow with no problems in Seattle's snowpocalypse, but then again I grew up in CO. Very comfortable on a 2-day road trip. ConsNot a big family car of course. I went camping in it a couple times and it was a bit tight with all my gear + dog.

Yeah Mini!!! — I love this car, but hard for it to be my only car. Need a little more room for camping & other activities. Very dependable, always friendly. I love that the automatic also has an option for manual shift. The seats are plenty comfortable for a long road trip. Primary Use: Family transportation

2006 MINI Cooper Hatchback Review
Prosthe CVT transmission: takes a little getting used to. a pause while the fluids and belts start doing what they are supposed to is required here, but once you've discovered the M/S mode, the sportiness begins. You can downshift, or allow the CVT to downshift for you. Will get up and go but if in M/S mode gets there more quickly allowing the engine to rev to 5000 rpm. I LOVE this CVT and don't know why people have trouble getting along with it. Once you realize that it is a German creation, not English, attitudes are different as if on the Autobahn- Going 68 miles an hour and the rpms barely crossed 2000 rpm. This thing is NUTS. We are not in mother Germany anymore! ConsTranny is somewhat slow, but once going will keep going. 2000 rpm at 65 mph, that's the stuff we take to the autobahn!

The Most Completely Beautiful Driving Experience I've Ever Had! — Driving a MINI is like no other. Such fun, I'll gladly pay the extra for the high-test gas, and get at least 20mpg. Could even be less because the sport of driving this one outweighs the cost! Money green (froggy) the wife has named this one- 1.6 Liter engine not even 39,000 miles on it. I strongly recommend the MINI if you love to drive! Recommend Cobalt undershield as rocks will chew up the Swiss plastic- GPS dominates the cockpit, and would rather know the temperature of the motor, the amount of volts, Amps and Oil Pressure. As it is one must "GO ON FAITH"- guess this will not be an issue until breakdown~ Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
