[Edit] The Toyota Camry returned without change for this final year of its fifth generation. This mid-size sedan had long been a top-selling model for Toyota, thanks to its solid reputation for comfort, ease of ownership, and reliability. The Camry's styling has always been understated, and Toyota has never attempted a quasi-luxury car presentation with this mid-size sedan.
The essentials were included, the interior layout was functional, and the design was simple.
The 2006 base model was referred to as the 'Standard' trim, and items like a CD audio system, power accessories, and cruise control were included. If buyers were interested in selecting from the full range of options, they were better served by one of the higher trims.
On this version of the Standard trim, a 2.4 liter DOHC inline four cylinder engine was mated to a five speed manual transmission or a five speed automatic, which sent the power to the front wheels. The engine provided an adequate 154 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque. This engine and transmission combination offered the best fuel efficiency of all Camrys, at 24/33 mpg for the manual transmission and 24/34 for the automatic transmission.
This overview covers this specific trim only. You can read more on our 2006 Toyota Camry page.
