[Edit] The entire Camry lineup received a series of light styling revisions for 2005, including new headlamps and taillights, and a redesigned grille. ABS with Toyota's Electronic Brake-force Distribution is now standard across the board, and the old four-speed automatic is upgraded to a five-speed.
Toyota gives the SE a sporting orientation, but the sole mechanical change is the addition of a sport-tuned suspension. Other exclusive features here deal with presentation. A rear spoiler, 17 inch wheels, fog lamps, a special grille, and special fabrics differentiate the SE from other trims.
This SE is powered by a 2.4 liter DOHC four cylinder, delivering 154 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque. The inline four is paired with either an electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual.
Reviewers and drivers agree that even the sporty SE is not a breathtaking performer, even with the V-6. However, the Camry continues to win praise for its inviting blend of build quality, reliability and safety.
