[Edit] The world's best-selling mid-size sedan received no changes for 2006. The previous year had brought a late-cycle styling update for the fifth generation, and the sedan was completely redesigned for 2007. New SAE testing methods led to a drop in the horsepower ratings for 2006.
The LE models are the Camry's second trim level, after being replaced by a new base model called the Standard trim in 2005.
The LE upgrades standard features to include keyless entry, color-coordinated side mirrors, and a power seat for the driver. These items are added to the CD audio system, power accessories, and cruise control, which are found on all models.
The Toyota's Variable Valve + intelligence system enhances the modest 2.4 liter inline four power plant, for stronger output, better fuel efficiency, and lower emission. The Camry receives 154 horsepower from this engine, which is mated to an electronically controlled five speed automatic transmission. The automatic offers a slight improvement in fuel efficiency over the manual, at 24/34. The manual transmission fuel economy stands at 24/33.
Along with its reliability and build quality, safety is one of the Camry's top selling points. All models get Toyota's ABS system with with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist.
