After replacing the Chevy Van in the late 1990s, the Chevy Express Cargo captured nearly one third of the U.S. full-size van market by 2007. This extra roomy cargo variation of the Express compensates by seating only 2 passengers, unlike the 8, 12, and 15 seat arrangements in the Express. The Express could serve as a dead ringer for the GMC Savana.
From 2000 to 2007, horsepower has jumped from around 195 hp to 295 hp, giving the Express Cargo the extra power to carry around all its cargo. Transmission has held steady at 4 speed automatic. Finally, gas mileage generally comes out to 14-15 mpg in the city and 18-19 on the highway. Don't look for this model to change too much in the near future, especially with the general lack of competition in the full-size van market.
