Infiniti QX56 History

The Infiniti QX56 was launched in 2004 as the luxury carmaker's entry into the full-size SUV market. And it's full-size, all right: the QX56 is bigger than the Ford Expedition and the Cadillac Escalade. It seats seven or eight passengers, depending on seat configuration, and has 20 cubic feet of cargo space (61.3 cubic feet with seats folded down).

Now, most people don't need a sport utility vehicle this big. Or this luxurious. Or this expensive. But if you do, the Infiniti QX56 is a solid choice. The interior cabin is roomy (natch), and also sports some high-end touches, like all-leather seats and trim, with burlwood finish on the dash. Safety features are also state-of-the-art, with front and rear rollbars and side impact bars, as well as front, side, and overhead curtain airbags.

Under the hood, you'll find a big V8 engine with plenty of horsepower and torque. Unsurprisingly, the QX56 has pretty horrific fuel efficiency: 13 mpg city, 20 mpg highway is the EPA estimate, and owners report slightly lower performance.
