Volvo V50 History

The versatile V50 was known as the V40 when it first went on sale in the U.S. in 2000. This incarnation had been sold in Europe for five years before that.

The second generation began in 2005, at which time the name was upgraded to V50. This is the smaller alternative in Volvo wagons (versus the very popular V70) and is considered the counterpart to the S40 sedan.

The vehicle combines moderate cargo space and relative efficiency with the legendary Volvo crashworthiness. It is a great choice for families and dog owners who don't wish to own an SUV.
