2001 BMW 530

Some BMW purists like this car better than the 530s released in later model years. Six years later its 225-horsepower engine still delivers oomph, and the design predates BMW's push to add lots of technological gizmos - gizmos some feel get in the way of the driving experience. As one reviewer noted, "Not only did our 530i not try to hit you over the head with technology, it did all the little things right as well."

While technically a mid-size sports sedan, the 530 is roomy and especially noted for a trunk that swallows luggage and a backseat that doesn't cramp full-sized adults. As is typical for BMWs, the 2001 530 has held its value far better than similarly styled cars in its class.
