There were no major changes outside of minor equipment reshuffling for the 2003 BMW 525i in anticipation of a major overhaul in 2004. Like previous versions of the 525, the 2003 version got high ratings in side and frontal impact crash tests and drivers generally liked the way the car handled and felt.
Test drivers also like the details incorporated into the car's features and engineering: a rechargeable flashlight in the glove box, a road side emergency triangle included standard in the trunk, and automatic windows that sensed and stopped whenever an object was in their path, preventing injuries.
