CarGurus' 2001 BMW 525 Review
The new, 525i sedan helped drop the entry price level for 5-series owners in 2001 and was part of a complete overhaul of the shape and styling of the popular, mid-level line from BMW. Most notably, the German car maker added the now familiar, kidney shaped grille to all 5-series models.
Despite having a smaller, 184-horsepower, 2.5 liter engine than its pumped up big brother, the 530, reviewers said the change was barely noticeable and the 525 still packed "plenty of oomph." As has become a well known secret for this line, the car handled and performed "perfectly," according to most reviewers.
