CarGurus' 1991 Audi V8 Review

It seems that the U in Audi must stand for understated, as all of its sedan models appear unpretentious and subtly elegant on the outside, while inside they house one of the most comfortable and luxurious interiors in the sedan segment.  The 1991 Audi V8 is no exception.  This 4-door full-size car seats five, with a roomy trunk.  It sits on the same platform as the Audi 100, but has more seating room because the wheelbase has been extended.

As for power, the 1991 V8 gets its juice from a 3.6-liter, DOHC 32-valve V8 (hence the catchy name) that rates 240-hp.  New in 1991 is a 5-speed manual option to the previously standard three-mode 4-speed automatic transmission.  The V8 was an innovator when it appeared in 1988, being the first auto tran Audi to be paired with quattro all-wheel drive.  This system gives the driver confidence on the road, knowing the full-size sedan will stay glued to the road no matter how hard nature tries to bring it down.  The interior features are not changed from 1990, and spoil riders with heated front and rear leather seats, cruise control, adjustable seats with memory settings, power mirrors, heated locks, and a sunroof -- all standard.

Owners love the way the 1991 V8 drives.  They say it handles like a sports car, hugging corners with precise steering.  Though slow upon initial acceleration, once it hits the highway, the V8 engine makes it quite speedy.  Some drivers complain the full-size sedan is too heavy to really achieve high performance.  Drivers do love the supportive sports seats and the quattro technology.  Expensive repairs, unhelpful dealers, rare parts, and the slow pickup are the biggest drawbacks.
