CarGurus' 1995 Audi A6 Review

In place of the Audi 100, a luxury-minded mid-size family sedan, 1995 introduces the Audi A6.  Essentially only sporting the abbreviated new name as its biggest change, with some minor stylistic reworkings, the 1995 Audi A6 varied little from the old 100.  Simple and straightforward, offered as either a 4-door sedan or wagon, it was the next step up from the A4.  Both styles came as front-wheel drive or the hugely successful quattro all-wheel drive.  The same engine from the 1994 Audi 100 is brought over into the A6, a 2.8-liter, 172-hp V6 and standard manual transmission.  Wagons only came with the 4-speed auto tran.

Audis offer a lot for the selling price, and the A6 was no exception.  All models of this luxury mid-size sedan came standard with many features, such as cruise control, power adjustable driver's seat, heated mirrors, fog lights, power sunroof, ABS brakes, leather trim, and tilt/telescopic steering wheel.  Heated leather seats and a memory driver's seat were popular options.  Seating for four and a large trunk ensured you'd be traveling in style and comfort.

It is this luxury, spaciousness, and comfort that appeals to so many owners, who feel they are getting a lot for what they paid in their 1995 A6.  The quattro handling and grip on the road surpasses people's expectations, and combined with the heavy weight of the car, it plows through snow better than many SUVs, according to many owners.  It is strong and stable, with a well-balanced, quiet ride.  Some feel it is still underpowered for its size and weight, and although it picks up good speed on the highway, initial acceleration   is poor.  Typical Audi complaints of expensive repairs and unhelpful dealers also plague the 1995 A6.
