For 2006, Chrysler discontinued several of the 300 trim levels that were offered in the previous year. The Limited and Signature Series were dropped, leaving the C, Touring, and base model. All upper level trims were available with both rear wheel drive and all wheel drive. All 300s were marked by the same bold and distinctive styling, which set the entire line apart from other American luxury cars.
The most modest power plant available was the base models' 2.7 liter V-6, which produced 190 horsepower. The Touring trim added a larger 3.5 liter V-6, bringing horsepower up to 250. The 300C was very performance-focused, swapping the comparatively meek V-6 for a 5.7 liter Hemi V-8. Horsepower now jumped to 340. And one step further: the special 300C SRT-8 version featured a 6.1 liter Hemi that produced 425 horsepower. The entry level 300 used a four-speed automatic, while all other models added a five-speed with the AutoStick manual shifter.
The 300 series covered much of the price spectrum: from a base model under $20,000 to the high end SRT-8 which was more than double the base price.
