A Fuel-sipping Champion. — This is a terrific all around family car. The seating is huge, it is fuel efficient, and handles well. The design is spartan and timeless. The only thing I've noticed over time is that the paint doesn't seem durable. It is super comfortable for long road trips especially.

2.5 Passat S Is A Great Value — i traded a 2011 mb glk for this cpo 2013 passat s. i was looking for a german driving experience at lower cost and happily found it. i test drove 2.5 and 1.8t passats and jettas. the 1.8t jetta was awesome, but i needed more interior room. since i prefer cloth seats i saved $4k by buying a cpo passat s with 2.5 engine. please dont believe the anti 2.5 automotive press reports, the 2.5 is a sweetly solid performer. hitting 80mph entering a highway is easy, so is passing from 70mph. i get 24mpg in the suburbs and 32-36 highway mpg, better when air temp is in 60s, at 70mph. i gave it 4 stars for brakes, ride and noise because i came from a mercedes, but im very happy since my ownership cost is half now that im in a vw.

The Perfect Balance Between Luxury, Performance And Economy — This is a smooth, quiet, comfortable and powerful car that achieves amazing fuel mileage. VW diesels have a quasi cult following and amazing resale values even up to and beyond 200,000 miles. The torque and performance in traffic will spoil you for going back to gasoline power. The only time you will know it is a diesel is at the gas station where you may get the smell on your hands, but otherwise this is the perfect balance between luxury, performance and economy.

Better Than A Prius — Awesome gas mileage, avg. 42 around town and 48 on the highway. I love the style/looks, passenger room is huge in the front and back seats. Monster trunk, fun to drive, although not a race car, the. DSG transmission is perfect for this car.

Excellent. — Brand new. Power is good. Looking forward to my first trip. Warms up pretty quickly. Very roomy inside. The computer telling me distance to empty and average consumption is a nice touch. Needs winter tires though. Haven't filled it yet so I have no idea about fuel mileage. Just what the computer tells me...

Pros

Great gas mileage.  Good styling, comparable to BMW & LEXUS in looks, handling, and build.

Cons

Not as much acceleration as gas at highway speeds, still pretty good.

Great Long Distance Driver — We were driving over 25,000 miles per year, primarily putting mileage on 2007 Dodge 1500 Mega Cab SLT. Gas costs were significant as we were only getting 15 mpg tops in Dodge 1500. To that end we leased a 2013 Passat for ourselves, and would get approximately 50 mpg for interstate driving (no dawdling, driving approximately 75-85 mph). We get less for regular commuting (living in Colorado mountains and driving up and down pass), but still near 43-45 mpg. Does not have much power at high speeds, plenty at low speeds with torque. Still, very easy and fun to drive. Easily hauls 2-3 people, or 2 with hockey equipment, cargo compartment is large.

Pros

If nothing else the Passat exudes understated elegance. But there's so much more... Fuel economy, ride, comfort, quietness. The Passat is that one lady at the party who needs no makeup nor jewelery to turn every head in the place.

Cons

Can't decide whether to keep her clean in the garage and drive my A5 TDI (which I really like) or take her out and get her dirty because this car is just so nice to drive.

Tdi Sel — Likes or dislikes? Not tough to answer really... That is if you understand that a VW badge combined with a diesel engine in this class of car is both somewhat special and perhaps foreign to many potential buyers. For those of us used to VW, we already understand much of the thinking and engineering placed in this car. It's different from most. My wife and I chose this vehicle because of its design and the general "feel" of quality. Understand... The Passat is by no means an economy car. The Passat is a relatively expensive car that will return stellar economy. As with other VW products I suspect the Passat will demand proper service. Take this into consideration before making a purchase, then go buy one. You won't be sorry!

Pros

Car has lots of space, both for people and cargo.  The backseat room is fantastic!  The style is very classy and it's a lot of fun to drive.  Gas mileage (41 - 45 mph on my combo city-highway commute) is great for a mid-size sedan!

Cons

A little loud while idling, but that's to be expected with the deisel engine.  Some initial maintenance issues, but they've been corrected and I was helped by VW for trouble.

A Great Family Car! — I'm really enjoying this car after driving a 2001 Honda Civic EX for 12 years. The ride is smooth, the car has lots of power and the gas mileage is great. The sounds system is excellent as well. Good purchase so far!
