2012 Hyundai Elantra Trims and Specs

The entry-level Hyundai Elantra GLS receives only minor updating for 2012. Power comes from a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 148 hp and 131 lb-ft of torque. The engine links to either a 6-speed manual transmission, which comes standard, or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic, which enables manual shifting by tapping the shift knob when it's positioned in the manual-shift gate. When equipped with the automatic transmission, the Hyundai GLS also includes the automaker's new Active Eco System feature, which at the push of a button recalibrates the throttle and transmission shift points to conserve fuel. In normal mode, the GLS posts fuel economy numbers of 29/40 mpg. Safety features for the Elantra GLS include electronic stability control, traction control, antilock brakes and electronic brakeforce distribution, as well as 6 standard airbags.

When equipped with the manual transmission, standard interior features for the GLS include cloth seats, a 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat, a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, power windows and door locks, and a 6-speaker, 172-watt AM/FM audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio and an audio input jack. When the GLS is equipped with the automatic transmission, Hyundai adds air conditioning, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel and cruise control to the standard equipment package. In addition, an available A/T Preferred Package adds heated front seats, Bluetooth, steering wheel audio controls and a sliding center armrest. Outside, heated power side mirrors are among the standard features. The Elantra GLS rides on 16-inch wheels.

As the top-of-the-line Elantra available for 2012, the Hyundai Elantra Limited comes well-equipped with such upscale features as leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, as well as heated front seats and heated rear seats, making the Elantra Limited the only vehicle in its automotive class to offer heated rear seats. Other standard features for the Elantra Limited include air conditioning, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, Bluetooth, a sliding center armrest, a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, illuminated vanity mirrors and an illuminated ignition switch. In addition, the Limited's 6-speaker, 172-watt AM/FM audio system includes SiriusXM satellite radio, an audio input jack and a CD player. The driver's seat features 6-way manual adjustment. Optional features for the Limited include a navigation system with a 7-inch screen, a rear-view camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, a proximity key with push-button start and a 360-watt audio system.
