The 2010 Toyota Yaris Hatchback 5-Door receives a new Star Safety System, which adds Vehicle Stability Control, traction control, and antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution to the standard equipment list. In addition, the automaker now includes a rear window defroster as a standard feature and offers an optional five-speed manual transmission, as well as new optional steel or alloy 15-inch wheels. Other standard interior features include air conditioning, a tilt steering wheel, a covered console with a storage compartment, and underfloor storage in the cargo area, accessed by a wide rear liftgate. The fabric-trimmed front seats feature four-way manual adjustment, as well as a height adjuster for the driver's seat. An optional Power Package adds power door locks, windows, and side mirrors, while an optional sport package adds leather-wrapped steering wheel, front sport seats with sport fabric, an amber illuminated tachometer, and an AM/FM audio system with a CD player and an MP3 input jack.
A 1.5-liter, DOHC four-cylinder engine powers the Yaris Hatchback 5-Door. The engine puts out 106 hp and 103 lb-ft of torque, and connects to either a four-speed automatic transmission or the five-speed manual. The EPA estimates fuel economy numbers for the Yaris Hatchback at 29/36 mpg (29/35 mpg with the automatic). Standard exterior features include aerodynamic halogen headlights, integrated bumpers, color-keyed outside mirrors and door handles, and a "T" face Toyota grille. The 2010 Yaris Hatchback 5-Door rides on 14-inch steel wheels.
