The base 2009 Subaru Tribeca trim comes with two rows of seating, with room for five passengers. The reclining second row slides 8 inches forward and back to accommodate more cargo or offer more legroom, and split-folds flat 40/20/40 for convenience and flexibility. Cloth seats are standard, and Subaru doesn't offer leather seating as an option on the base trim. However, a leather-wrapped steering wheel comes standard, as does such equipment as remote keyless entry, cruise control, automatic climate control, power windows and door locks, and a six-speaker AM/FM audio system with a CD player and MP3 connectivity. Outside, heated exterior mirrors and front foglights are included in the standard equipment package.

A 3.5-liter, double-overhead-cam six-cylinder, horizontally opposed boxer engine powers the Tribeca 5-Passenger. The engine generates 256 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque, and links to a five-speed automatic with sport shift, which enables manual shifting. Subaru includes its full-time symmetrical all-wheel-drive system as a standard feature, ensuring superb road grip and stability. Other standard features include independent front and rear suspension, variable assisted steering, 18-inch alloy wheels with Goodyear tires, four-wheel antilock brakes with brake assist, and standard traction and stability control.

The 2009 Subaru Tribeca 7-Passenger trim adds a third row of seating, which expands passenger capacity to seven, but significantly cuts down on rear leg- and cargo room. As a result, only children will feel comfortable in the rear seat. Plus, with the second- and third-row seats in place, cargo capacity dips to a mere 8.3 cubic feet (down from 37.6 cubic feet in the base trim with two rows of seating). The third-row seat folds flat and splits 50/50.

Standard features for the Tribeca 7-Passenger include an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, remote keyless entry, cruise control, a rear power outlet, and a six-speaker AM/FM audio system with a CD player and MP3 connectivity. Standard exterior features include front foglights and heated exterior mirrors. Power comes in the form of a 3.5-liter, 256-hp horizontally opposed boxer engine, which links to a five-speed automatic with a manual-shift feature. Antilock brakes, traction control, stability control, and a full-time symmetrical all-wheel-drive system all come standard. The Tribeca 7-Passenger rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with Goodyear tires.

The 2009 Subaru Tribeca Limited 5-Passenger adds a number of features not included on the base Tribeca trim, including leather-trimmed upholstery, heated front seats, and a nine-speaker, 160-watt AM/FM stereo system with a 6-CD changer and MP3 connectivity. Other standard features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote keyless entry, automatic climate control, cruise control, and power windows and door locks. The Limited 5-Passenger comes with two rows of seating. The second row reclines and slides 8 inches backward and forward to make room for more cargo or add more legroom for rear-seat passengers. The second row also folds flat and splits 40/20/40. Standard exterior features include front foglights and heated exterior mirrors.

Power for the '09 Limited 5-Passenger comes in the form of a 3.5-liter, double-overhead-cam six-cylinder boxer-style engine, which produces 256 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. The engine links to a five-speed automatic with a sport-shift feature, which enables manual shifting. Subaru's full-time symmetrical all-wheel-drive system comes standard, as do antilock brakes, traction control, and stability control. The Limited 5-Passenger rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.

Cargo space dips significantly with the third row of seating in place, but both the second and third rows split and fold flat to expand cargo capacity.
