The 2009 Chrysler 300 LX at one point constituted the base trim for the ’09 300 lineup, but has since been discontinued. Packing a 2.7-liter V6 and four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, the rear-wheel-drive ’09 Chrysler 300 LX will put out 178 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. The EPA rates the ’09 300 LX at 18/26 mpg with regular unleaded gasoline.

Chrysler’s 2009 300 Limited AWD features full-time all-wheel drive (AWD) and all the standard and optional bells and whistles of the rear-wheel-drive 300 Limited. As is common with the AWD configuration, gas mileage suffers marginally at 17/23 mpg.

As its name implies, the rear-wheel-drive 2009 Chrysler 300 C Hemi sedan features the renowned 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that, in combination with the five-speed AutoStick auto-manual transmission, pounds out 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. The variable-valve-timed 5.7-liter Hemi V8 keeps gas mileage at a reasonable-if-not-jaw-dropping 16/23 mpg.

The ’09 300 C Hemi can be optioned up to the Walter P. Chrysler Executive trim, which adds 6 inches to the overall length of the car and features heated rear seats, or into the Heritage Edition, which offers unique chrome and badging as well as a standard heavy-duty coolant system for the Hemi V8. In any configuration, however, the ’09 300 C Hemi is loaded with both features and power.

The second-highest trim level in the Chrysler 300 lineup is the 2009 Chrysler 300 C AWD five-passenger sedan. The ’09 Chrysler 300 C AWD packs a standard 5.7-liter VVT OHV Hemi V8 engine and five-speed auto-shift transmission that puts out 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Mileage with the variable-valve-timed 5.7-liter V8 comes reasonably close to the V6-equipped '09 300 trims at 16/23 mpg.

Showing some serious muscle, the 2009 Chrysler 300 SRT8 flexes 425 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque when matched with the standard five-speed AutoStick transmission. This power, combined with a standard load-leveling suspension system and upgraded four-wheel disc brakes, managed to get from 0 up to 100 mph and back to 0 in less than 17 seconds. Fuel efficiency obviously suffers, however, at 13/18 mpg, and the SRT8 burns only premium unleaded gasoline.

Along with the aforementioned standard load-leveling suspension, as well as performance steering, 20-inch chrome alloy wheels, and standard front and rear side curtain airbags, the ’09 Chrysler 300 SRT8 packs the identical standard creature comforts and regular options as its 300 C AWD sibling. These include the 276-watt single-CD player with six Boston Acoustics speakers, memory settings, a built-in hard drive, heated, power-adjustable front seats, DVD navigation, and rear-seat DVD entertainment.
