2009 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD LT Ext. Cab 4WD Review
my 2009 was bought used 6 months ago with 174000km, sofar i'm at 202000km all work related. i took an average fuel consumption test, of nearly 10000km and all of my fuel reciepts i came up with an average of 15.05l per 100km... not bad for a big truck in the bush. during my test the truck idled between 20 and 30 hrs in temps below 0c through -30c and at least 500km in 4 wheel drive. pretty realistic environment for this type of truck. my last trip to grand prairie ab was 980km that included 30min of around town driving, consumed 124l of fuel equating to less than 13l per 100km, amazing for a 1 ton with 365hp and over 600ftlbs of torque. with good tires and shocks the truck is balanced very nice for cornering, braking, accelerating on all road conditions.
only major complaint is the air cleaner and DPF, in heavy and dry snow conditions when driving long distances, the air cleaner can pack full of snow. i learned the grill cover is not just for looks, the grill offers more protection but does not cure the issue... my resolution is 2 filters to swap between so when 1 is plugged you can switch back and forth. the dpf... someone needs to be shot for this invention, the idea of taking fuel from your tank to burn in your exhaust is rediculous... tones of fuel being burnt from trucks across the country that doesn't help them go any further down the hwy! minor complaints are cargo light that only operates with the interior light, makes it hard to check the dogs in the back when you are driving at night. extra doors have to be slammed shut to avoid cavatation when driving
Overall Good Truck! — comfortable truck that will gain your trust... with some annoying issues that can be over come, after all when reliability, durability and low operating costs are what your looking for this truck is sure to please. please note throughout my economy tests i was within 10% of the speed limit and would pass slower vehicles, driving much like anyone on the road. most driving was in mountain roads.
Primary Use: Commuting to work

Chevy Truck — The chevy 3500 is an sweet truck it has lot of power. The performance is sweet it can pull trailers easy. The truck is really fun to drive with how much power it has and how easy it goes on the road and in fields.
Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)
