2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser Review
ProsTough, solid... Toyota. ConsBlind spots, back seat access, no map lights

My Fj Cruiser — Performance: Couldn't ask for better acceleration for a 4300 lb box on wheels. It's got the same V-6 as the base 4Runner, but variable valve timing for smoother, more responsive power. Braking and handling are, again, good for its size and shape. Off-road performance is stellar- I've driven tons of Jeeps, a hand-full of Land Rovers, and one Hummer H3, and it will go places (and get out of places) none of the rest could. Beefier tires and 4x4 helps. Build Quality: It's a Toyota SUV. Appearance: judge for yourself. I like it, some of my friends won't be seen in it. It doesn't look like anything else on the road. Blind spots took a lot of getting used to. Interior is no more or less than anybody needs. No leather heated seats or sunroof, and a cramped back seat, but great head room and driver/front passenger comfort. Water-resistant washable floor and cloth seats. NO MAP LIGHTS!! WHAT??? Cost of ownership: On my best tank, i've gotten 22mpg. The worst has been 16 mpg. Premium fuel will get an extra mile or two per gallon for most drivers. I used synthetic oil at 15K miles, and it was $60 for me to do it in my driveway with a K&N filter. Dino oil changes with a Fram filter are free at the dealership for 3 years for me. This car is a blast to drive off-road, and a tolerable road vehicle as SUV's go.

I Will Never Go Back To Any Other Vehicle And If I Can Talk My Wife Into It I Will Get Another. — I have owned pickup trucks and SUV's, I have heard this FJ gets poor gas milage and on windy days you feel it and I have heard the seats are not comfortable. I love this vehicle and I call it the all terrain vehicle that will do anything and go anywhere. If you want really good gas milage buy a small car. If you complain about wind? drive any other SUV or truck and compare. If you don't like the interior? why did you buy this in the first place unless the dealer held a guun to your head. This is a vehicle that is meant for anything, anytime or anywhere without a problem and they are pretty comfy. I am 6'3" and 245lbs and this has more room than my wifes expensive SUV? This is a vehicle that will live on longer than any that try to compare and still look good. Craig Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsIt's a beautiful rig that keeps pulling everywhere off-road ConsRear visibility is nil, especially with an oversized spare

Best 4x4 Ever — The FJ is is so well built and performs so well off-road that anyone on the trail with you will complain you're going too fast and their teeth are rattling out of their skulls. All the while you'll be wondering where everyone behind you went - they can't keep up. Shoulda bought an FJ, chump.

Not A Soccer Mums Suv — FJCruiser is for adventurous souls. I like this truck a lot and enjoy my ride every single day. Ample of space to fit in all your junk anywhere you go. Offroad performance is unmatched and equally drives good on the road. Postive: Off-roading, reliability, King of the road(u feel), looks good, ample of cargo space. Negative: Mileage, suicide doors. Caution:- this is not a soccer mums SUV. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Glad I Have One, Miss The Cargo Space Of The 4-runner — Great everyday driver tank. Been highcentered twice but never stuck. Water level to just below the doorhandles, no leaks, aftermarket tires and a two inch lift kit for the thirty ones. Great fun when off the daily traveled highways and biways. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Prosswitch off al electronics and have FUN Consif you have BIG family

Fj — Stock handling is not perfect, because of front soft suspension. Because of stupid bumper and many sharp corners in front of the car, after carwash or rain even after 20 min. drops are still flying and hiting front screan. itrerior should have more places to keep something inside, when ever somebody site in the car they can see everthing. exterior needed less sharp corners and i till now don't know why they fix that stupid plastic on the hood(WAANA BE AIR INTAKE)))) cheap 4x4, good fuel consumptions and cheap to maintain and tune. yes it is fun to drive if you know how to have fun;) Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |
