2008 Ford Expedition EL King Ranch Trim Overview

The extended-length Ford Expedition EL King Ranch, which debuted for the 2008 model year, offers drivers more cargo space as well as a number of special features designed to set the big SUV apart from its siblings in the Expedition lineup.

Ford stretched the EL King Ranch by 15 inches, which results in 24 more cubic feet of cargo space than the standard Expedition model. A rear cargo organizer, part of the standard equipment package, helps drivers keep all their extra cargo neat and in place, according to Ford.

To create an upscale feel, the Expedition EL King Ranch comes equipped with special low-backed front captain's chairs, which are heated and cooled, and trimmed in Chaparral leather. The driver's seat has a 10-way power adjustment function.

Other upscale interior features include a King Ranch center floor console with floor shifter, woodtone applique on the instrument panel and shift handle, carpeted floor mats with the King Ranch logo, and a leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel with climate and radio controls and a Chaparral leather insert.

A Convenience Package, also included as standard equipment, adds power-adjustable pedals with a memory setting, a universal garage door opener, and a reverse sensing system.

Outside, the Expedition King Ranch sports such unique features as Pueblo Gold front and rear bumpers and fascias, and Pueblo Gold running boards. The King Ranch 4WD rides on 18-inch machined aluminum wheels with King Ranch center caps.

A 300-horsepower, 5.4-liter V8 engine ably drives the Expedition King Ranch, though gas mileage suffers. The engine links to a six-speed overdrive transmission. AdvanceTrac traction control with Roll Stability Control (RSC), a Safety Canopy system with side airbags, and a tire pressure monitoring system are also part of the package.
