Pros

I've have 6 cylinder model.  It's very reliable and easy to service.  The paint has held up very well, and there is no indication of rust anywhere.  The cabin has the basic necessities, is comfortable, with well laid-out controls.  Gas mileage is impressive on the highway (21-22  mpg).  I've had the truck for almost six years and not one bit of trouble.  It seems to have been well built.

Cons

Gas mileage in town is so-so (15-16 mpg), and it's a little down on power.  The 4-speed automatic transmission is reliable but clunky.  It's a tight fit for adults in the back seats.

Great Small To Medium Sized Truck — Although I had sworn never to own a Chrysler product I got a good deal on this truck in 2008 with only 4K miles on it. Since then I've put over 52K trouble-free miles on it and have no complaints whatsoever. It can hold five people, haul just about anything that will fit in the five foot bed, and is reasonably economical.

This Is A Good Truck And I Truly Am Enjoying The Heck Out Of It. — This truck has 302 horsepower and rides better than most cars I have owned! I have owned a 2006 Ford Ranger, 2004 Chevy Silverado, 1999 Ford F-150, 1996 Ford F-250, 1996 Dodge Dakota, and a 1992 Dodge Dakota. This truck is by FAR the best truck I have ever owned in my entire life (and I am 46!) It's fast, it rides great, it's getting 16 mpg in town and 20 mpg on the highway. I don't know what others are saying but test drive one and you won't be sorry.

Good Solid Performer I Would Make The Purchase Again — It really has get up and go and the highway milage for a crew cab is outstanding I have gotten up to 22 mpg. Additionally, the truck has great ride much improved of previous years. It climmbs mountains with little trouble.

Pros

Good looking truck, power is pretty good, good sound system.

Cons

Gas mileage is a bit concerning, the engine hasn't broken in fully, so hopefully I'll get better mileage.

I Love This Truck — My truck has a 3.7 litre V6 with a 6 speed manual transmission. I bought this truck about a month ago with 4 kilometers on it, it now has 875 kilometers on it now. I have taken Lucas up Vedder Mt. 4x4ing and it handled the rocks and bumps with no problems. The sound system sounds really good, it came with 1 year of Sirius sat radio. I really like the looks of the 2008 Dakota, compared to the 2007 model. It looks more refined, less "bulbus" in the front.

Pros

I am still driving the 2008 because I just don't want a full size truck and this is the only one with the towing capacity I need.  I guess I will drive it two more years until I retire and just complain about it.

Cons

It is junk

Avoid These Trucks! — This is my fifth Dakota since 1995 and my last. This one is junk compared to the others. There is nothing I like about this one. I never should have bought it. The body is ill fitting, the paint is peeling, the interior is really cheap. It is a gas hog compared to my previous ones and my 2003 had better performance.
