Prosgreat truck Conspoor fuel mileage
45
Awsome — This truck is my work horse with pulling trailers hauling stuff in the back as well as the crew seats for stuff and riders. The fuel mileage is not bad but would like it better if it was above 17-18 mpg. With the summer rims and tires it looks great and I like driving it. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

ProsComfort, dependability, On-Star ConsNot as easy to find a parking spot...having a topper makes it a little more time consuming when it comes to washing by hand

King Of The Road Truck....silverado — We love the Silverado. Runs so smooth, lots of power when you need it, very comfortable especially on long trips. Love the multi-flex fuel..helps with gas mileage on the highway. We have had it for just over a year and have had no problems at all. Has a beautiful interior but would prefer a different material for the seats..but no problems. Love the outside appearance but noticed at the end of the tailpipe there is wearing of the paint. It is more expensive to operate than a small car for sure but a pleasure to drive and makes you feel very confident on the road. Also we love the On-Star feature...you never feel alone anywhere you travel...and actually makes it fun to drive. ON-Star staff are very friendly and helpful. Also, we use the truck for hauling trailer and ATV to cottage country. Primary Use: Family transportation

Overall The Best Full Sized Truck On The Market! — I drove this truck a few weeks ago and i've followed it very closely ever since it has been released. just let me say that everything about this truck impressed me in one way or another, especially over the previous model, which was in much need of a up-grade considering it was based on a vehicle from 1999. Drove just like a car and fit and finish was some of the best i've seen from GM. GM quality is increasing with every new model and we can only hope it continues that way!

ProsWell put together ConsBrakes do NOT perform well at high speeds

Yeah, Look Below This Ace — Overall this truck is great for people who have never owned one before (like me). It has a very nice appearance overall and drives solid. I have some upgrades planned to make it a much more fieldable truck. The acceleration isnt bad for a 4.3 Liter, V6, cranking out 195 horses under the hood. I am looking at doing some performance upgrades as well though. The top speed of this tiny monster is 99 MPH. I believe there is either a speed governor or an RPM limiter installed (I will take it off/disable it later)

ProsStrong, solid and simple. I have the work truck with wind up windows and rubberized floors that you could spray out with a garden hose if you need to. It is simple, solid and does everything is was designed to. At the time this 5.3 liter engine was the best mileage / torque combo on the market. Still is an excellent engine. We use the truck to be a truck, not a car. It hauls stuff around the farm, tows the boat to the lake and gets me back to my favorite hunting spots. Low maintenance, low overall ownership costs and good performance. ConsTurning radius is not as tight as I would like. I think my Ford was tighter.

Like A Rock. — I have had all types of trucks.........Ford, Dodge, Chevy and GM. This Chevy has a great engine and good towing capacity. Mine has the towing package and the towing mode setting on the transmission that gets a lot of use. I think it sets the shift points higher. I have the long bed.........my opinion is that if youre going to buy a truck, get the whole truck. I have never been a fan of short beds because we use our truck like a truck not a car. I am not brand loyal - I buy the best deal I can find. They all do well if you take care of them. Yes, even Dodge has come a long way in the past 10 years. The Silverado is probably the simplest to work on (most mechanics will agree). This also reduces ownership costs. The only thing I have against GM / Chevy is I still have a strong resentment of them taking the bailout money from Obama. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Awesome Truck! — Like the truck but don't get paid enough to fill it up all the time on my road trips back home so need a car that is better on gas! I put aftermarket exhaust on the truck and it sounds amazing! Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

ProsLooks great, drives great, hauls loads in the bed or pulling a trailer with ease. A perfect truck for someone who doesn't need a back seat or a long bed. Handles well in the snow even without extra weight in the back. ConsGas mileage is 14-15 mpg normal driving in the city - if you baby it, don't drive hard, and pay attention to your driving habits, you can get 17-18 mpg in the city.

Wonderful Truck That's Reliable And Powerful — This truck has most features you need! Great looks & styling, chromed steel wheels, spray on bed liner, V8 4.3L engine, XM radio, OnStar, and a top of the line sound system. The truck is comfortable for commuting to work, hauling a load, pulling a trailer, or taking you hunting or fishing. This truck is so reliable that the only things we've done are the standard maintenance items: oil changes, tire rotations, weekly washings, regular waxings, and cleaning out the interior on a regular basis. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsEverything ConsNot 4x4

Buy Chevy — This truck is sick. Most comfortable truck manufactured, and still can do everything its competitors can. Very good gas mileage, averages about 22 miles per gallon. Doesn't handle like any old truck, and you roll in style. Truck is legit Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsVery solid construction. Better Fuel economy than competitors. User friendly controls. Auto 4x4 ConsRear Drum Brakes. Uncomfortable seats. Lack of Power.

Well Rounded Full-size — The 2008 Silverado is a hard all-around truck to beat. Exterior and Interior build qualities are second to none. Combine that with the solid frame and you will not hear any squeaks or rattles. The suspension is smooth on road but perhaps not tough enough for the trails. The 5.3 engine offers better fuel economy than most. However, the compromise is a lack in power compared to most full-size pickups. In conclusion, this vehicle does everything it was built to do and has the build quality to keep it that way for years to come. |
