2008 Chevrolet Cobalt LT2 Review

Pros

Reliability, good performance and acceleration, and a huge versatile trunk.

Cons

Trunk opening could be a little larger.  Rear brake rotors (instead of drums) should at least be an option on the LT2 model.

Great Reliable Performer! — I bought a used 2008 Cobalt LT2 with only 13,900 miles on it back in March of 2009 and I absolutely love it! Great acceleration, stops on a dime, and with the full-time all-speed traction control coming from the front wheels (standard on LT2 models), it makes evasive maneuvering a breeze. Plus the rear spoiler helps during windy conditions. Appearance- wise, this car is not a show car, as the cheap plastic interior and its plain exterior looks are self-explanatory. But that has never bothered me. Plus, with the huge hidden trunk as well as fold down rear seats add versatility to such a small car. Though the opening to the trunk could be a little larger in my opinion. Gas mileage is good, though it is no Honda Civic. The front ventilated rotors only needed to be adjusted once though as well as the rear drums needing to be cleaned. But other than that, just the usual oil change/tune-up. The cloth seats are comfortable for commuting, as they are not too plush, yet not too firm. I would highly recommend getting the LT2 model or higher as anything below that lacks a load of comfort and convenience features. Fun Factor - This car IS FUN TO DRIVE! Great for a long commute as well as in the city. The acceleration is also good with its 2.2 Liter engine and, it also hugs turns quite well on winding roads. All in all, I would highly recommend this car to anyone who's looking for a reliable everyday car with many different configurations to boot at a very affordable price.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

I Love My 2008 Pearl White Chevrolet Cobalt Sport Coupe! — acceleration is very fast when pedel is pressed, braking is average, handeling is very smooth and easy. it hasnt needed any repairs so far.. nothing squeaks or rattles and interior is leather with seat warmers, exterior is pearl white which hides a lot of dirt believe it or not. i get about 34 miles to the gallon which is amazing (depending on how im driving of course) and maintenence is a little expensive but the fun factor is its a cute but sporty and soo fun to drive around in and blast music with the power windows down :) SUNROOFF!!!!

Cobalt — Amazing car, well built, looks great. Drives smooth, and quietly. Great power, and with the turbo there is lots to spare. It can be a little pricey to own depending how hard you are driving it. Very fun to drive, and the race style seats are very comfortable. Overall a great car.

Cobalt Lt - Amazing Car For Sure — This car is the greatest thing ever to happen to me. I purchased this car after my old car kinda quit on me. I found this car on a Sunday browsing dealerships. It was a brand new 08 LT1 with cruise control and a few other options such as the rear spoiler. Too bad it didn't come with remote start or a sun roof. I debated between it and a dark red one at Johnny Londoff Chevy that had a body kit and exhaust on it. Even though the one with the body kit looked a bit cooler, I chose the silver LT. After my parents traded in their work van, the LT cost a little over 12 grand. I'm paying almost $208 a month for it. I got 0% financing for 60 months. I brought the car home on June 18, 2008. I absoultely love this car. Its very fun to drive and very nimble. For the 2.2, its a fast accerator and good at turns as well. Turning radius is awesome - I can turn it around on my driveway, which is a 3 car driveway. I plan on having a lot done to it, such as exhaust and intake.. and a LOT more. The gas milage too is awesome.. between 25 and 35. I would reccomend a Cobalt to anyone looking for a small car.

Good Price For The Power You Get. — This car has excellent acceleration, great handling and for the price per horse power it is a great deal. The front brakes are really good also, the seats offer good support, the car has good gas mileage and the maintenance is fair price.

Pros

Gas Mileage, Handling, Acceleration, Low Cost of Ownership

Cons

Numb steering, freeway passing, fit and finish, trunk opening size

Cobalt Review — Performance- Decent acceleration from a stop, but swift freeway passing demands a downshift. Strong, easily modulated brakes. Good grip from all season Pirellis, but steering isn't very communicative. Build quality- Mechanically sound to date. No electronic gremilins. Build quality is mediocre. Plastics decently grained and don't look overtly cheap, but their fit and finish is poor. A few rattles from dashboard and sunroof housing. Appearance- Plain Jane rental special is transformed into a decent looking machine thanks to the Sport model-specific front fascia, ground effects kit, rear air diffuser, and meaty wheels. Interior is pleasant, if somewhat bland Cost of Ownership- excellent gas mileage, see 30mpg on average. Maintenance iis relatively in expensive, although the engine does use synthetic oil, which is more expensive. Fun Factor- a blast to drive compared to the Jeep. Despite somewhat numb steering, decent acceleration and lots of grip help make this car tossable in turns with enough pick-up to keep driving spirited. Manual transmission is fun to row, if not WV/Audi smooth.

Pros

Great gas mileage; good-looking car; handles well

Cons

No automatic windows; cloth interior

Love This Car! — Great performance. Takes turns real well and brakes are sensitive. No repairs have been needed, but cloth interior can get dirty real easy. The cloth is real easy to clean though. Sporty exterior appearance looks real sleek.25 GPM, which is great with the gas prices. Love to drive it, real fun!

To Be Or Not To Be — could be better, has great grip, tires and rims are lighter than stock, still needs to loose some weight. with my upgrades i can keep up with a ss, all it needs is a turbo and a better clutch. not sure if i want to keep it
