2007 Volvo S80

This year Volvo introduces two new engines for its luxury car: an inline V6 (238 hp) and a compact V8 (315 hp). Enhancements in cabin space, cosmetics, chassis, and powertrain bring more excitement to the S80, the largest in the Swedish company's line of sedans.

All of the usual Volvo safety features (air bags, protective side beams, and passenger safety cage, to name a few) are found in the S80, of course, but it's never enough for a company that has made its name on keeping passengers alive. How about the impressive new Adaptive Cruise Control? When its radar detects too little distance from the car in front it alerts the driver and then prepares for a quick stop by positioning the brake pads closer to the brakes.
The car's Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) also reduces crash likelihood by monitoring the car's blind spots and sending an alert to the Driver Information panel when it detects a vehicle within that space. And it's no surprise that the S80 comes with ABS at no extra cost, so you're in pretty good hands if a bad situation should arise.
Luxury is the other theme of the S80, so comforts and conveniences are par for the course. Leather is a given, on the seats as well as on the steering wheel. The interior is also appointed with genuine wood inlays, watch-dial instruments, and a smart-looking, slim-line center console. A moonroof, trip computer, fog lights (front and rear), and 8-speaker audio system with in-dash, 6-CD changer are also standard.
