The 2007 Highlander is largely a carryover from the previous year, but the headlights have been redesigned and side curtain airbags are now standard. Like other Toyota truck and SUV models, the Highlander is very configurable. There are eight different gas-powered models to choose from, thanks to a variety of engine, drive train and trim combinations.
This specific model is the entry point for the Highlander lineup. Even the base is considerably well-equipped, with power windows and locks, air conditioning, a six speaker CD sound system, and keyless entry. Options include leather seats, rear seat DVD entertainment system, and an in-dash CD changer. Many options are packaged together, but still available as stand-alones.
The Highlander is powered by a 2.4 liter DOHC inline four cylinder engine, which makes 155 horsepower and provides 162 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a four speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, with a special gearing feature called "Snow Mode." All Highlander 4x2s are front wheel drive. The small engine does not offer much in the way towing. The maximum capacity for this model is 3000 pounds. This is the most fuel efficient non-hybrid Highlander, with an EPA estimate of 22/28 mpg.

The base level Highlander is available in four variations. It can be had with 2WD or AWD, and with a four or six cylinder engine. This model takes one step above the entry level by adding the larger engine.
This engine is a 3.3 liter DOHC V-6, enhanced by Toyota's Variable Valve Timing + intelligence technology. VVT-i helps squeeze out more power, while lowing emissions and improving fuel economy. The result is a 3500 pound midsize SUV with 215 horsepower and 222 pound-feet of torque, and 19/25 mpg fuel efficiency. All 2WD Highlanders use a four speed automatic transmission and front wheel drive. Built from the Camry platform, the Highlander includes a sedan-like suspension system that favors smoothness over agility.
The base trim comes standard with power windows and door locks, keyless entry, 16 inch wheels, a six speaker CD audio system, and air conditioning. A myriad of options are available on all models, including an in-dash CD changer, rear seat DVD entertainment system, leather seating, third row seats, and a tow package. The navigation system is not offered with this model.

The Highlander is no different, with eight models to choose from in 2007. For this year, the headlights have been redesigned and more standard safety features are included. ABS, stability control, side and side-curtain airbags, and tire pressure monitor are all included.
The Highlander is offered in three trims: base, Sport, and Limited. The base model still receives plenty of convenience items like air conditioning, keyless entry, and power windows and locks. Available options include a tow package, JBL audio upgrade, rear seat DVD entertainment, and leather seats. All Highlanders can also be fitted with a third row of seats. These seats are best for smaller passengers.
This Highlander houses a 2.4 liter four cylinder DOHC engine, mated to a four speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, and powering an AWD drive train. The Toyota Highlander receives a new headlight design and some additional standard safety features for 2007. The Highlander is recognized as the first in an ever-expanding market of "crossover" SUVS. Originally called a "hybrid," the Highlander combined the handling and fuel efficiency of a car with the convenience of an SUV. It is now also offered as a genuine gas/electric hybrid. While the Highlander is technically still in its first generation, a new larger model is expected for 2008.
The base Highlander is equipped with standard features like power windows and door locks, air conditioning, keyless entry, a six speaker CD audio system, and 16 inch steel wheels. The third row of seating is optional on this model, as is an in-dash CD changer, leather trim, and a JBL audio upgrade.
This is the most well equipped of the four base selections. It adds AWD and a more potent engine. The four cylinder has been replaced with a 3.3 liter V-6, which generates 215 horsepower and 222 pound feet of torque. The Variable Valve Timing engine is paired with an electronically controlled five speed automatic transmission. This model is the least fuel efficient of all Highlanders, with an EPA rating of 18/24 mpg.

The 2007 Toyota Highlander is available in eight variations. Toyota has aimed to meet the needs of all potential truck and SUV buyers by offering a myriad of configurations of vehicles like the Highlander, 4Runner, Sequoia, Tundra, and Tacoma. The Highlander Sport is fitted with the mid-level trim package, designed to offer a more athletic appearance.
The Sport finish includes foglights, a special grille, chrome exterior trim, 17 inch alloy wheels. Inside, there is a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and a power driver's seat. These item are added to standard features like a six speaker CD audio system, power windows and door locks, keyless entry, air conditioning, and cruise control.
Like the Limited, the Highlander Sport is only available with the larger 3.3 liter V-6. This engine is considerably more powerful than the base four cylinder, generating 215 horsepower and 222 pound-feet of torque. The 2WD version will offer a slightly better fuel economy of 19/25 mpg. The Highlander is a crossover SUV built upon the Toyota Camry platform, and suspension is geared more towards ride quality than handling. The AWD Sport switches to a sport-tuned suspension, which brings a firmer ride feel but also improves agility.

The Sport model features 17 inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, a color-coordinated grille, chrome exterior trim, and a special sport-tuned suspension. The interior is fitted with a power driver's seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. These items are added to standard features like air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and locks, and keyless entry. Popular options are the JBL sound system upgrade with eight speakers and an in-dash CD changer, and the third row of seating. A DVD rear seat entertainment system is also available.
Along with the added security of all wheel drive, this Highlander is equipped with Toyota's own Star Safety System. This package includes Vehicle Stability Control + Traction Control, ABS with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, and Brake Assist. All Sport models are powered by the 3.3 liter DOHC V-6, which provides 215 horsepower and 222 pound-feet of torque. The V-6/AWD drive combination produces the lowest fuel efficiency, at 18/24 mpg.

The Highlander is essentially the same for 2007, save the addition of new headlights and more standard safety features like side and side-curtain airbags. There are several variations of Toyota's mid-size SUV, due to an interchangeable selection of engines, drive trains, and trims.
The Limited offer the most upscale finish. This model adds heated mirrors, a wiper de-icer, automatic climate control, an eight speaker JBL sound system with an in-dash CD changer, wood trim, and a third row of seating. All models come standard with air conditioning, full power accessories, and keyless entry. The Limited is only Highlander which is eligible for the navigation system.
The Limited trim is available with both 2WD and AWD, but no four cylinder is offered. The only engine option is the larger 3.3 liter V-6, mated to a five speed automatic transmission, and enhanced by Variable Valve Timing + intelligence technology. The VVT-i system manages the intake camshaft for better power, efficiency, and emissions control. The 215 horsepower Highlander receives an EPA estimate of 19/25 mpg, and it earns SULEV emissions rating.

For 2007, all Highlander models receive a new headlight design, and are now equipped with side and side-curtain airbags as standard equipment. There are eight Highlander models available, and this one is the top of the line. All trims include power windows and locks, keyless entry, air conditioning, and cruise control. The Limited upgrades to a premium eight speaker JBL audio system, wood trim, third row seating, heated mirrors and automatic climate control.
Safety features are also abundant. Toyota's special Star Safety System is found in all models, adding ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control + Traction Control, and Brake Assist. A tire pressure monitoring system, child restraints, and Toyota's Advanced Airbag System are also found in all Highlanders.
The Limited is only available with the 3.3 liter V-6 engine, paired with a five speed automatic transmission. This VVT-i power plant provides 215 horsepower and 222 pound-feet of torque. The torque is too low for any serious load hauling: maximum towing capacity is just 3500 pounds when a special towing kit is added. The inclusion of AWD will lower fuel efficiency to 18/24 mpg.
