The GS trim gets its zip from a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder MIVEC engine that puts out 162 horsepower. MIVEC stands for Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing and lift Electronic Control; it works by adjusting air intake to supply big torque in the city and big power on the highway.

The well-outfitted Spyder GT also has automatic climate control, remote keyless entry, and a security alarm system. Its looks are gussied up with 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome and clear taillights, parabolic fog lights, and a stainless-steel exhaust finisher.

Occupant safety is of paramount importance, and as such Mitsubishi has put in multi-stage front air bags as well as side-impact units. ABS comes standard, and the reinforced body was designed to keep impact energy away from the people inside.
