2007 Mazda MAZDA5 Sport Review
ProsVersatility, Economy, Looks, Drive ConsLumpy Gearbox, Needs driving hard for top performance.

My Mazda5 — Very versatile especially for us who regularly transport 6 people around..!! Performance is adequate and quite good for such a big car... Build quality is as you would expect from a Japanese manufacturer and economy is better than I could have imagined.. I'm getting nearly 50mpg..!!! Drive is smooth if somewhat lacking in adventure.. Engine needs driving hard to achieve it's best performance..

Pros3 row seating, seats 6, sliding side doors, nice size, sharp looking Consneeds a bigger engine, wears through the low profile tires quick

Surprisingly Fun, Functional And With Snappy Looks — We picked this as a compromise between and SUV and a high priced Honda Odyssey mini van. Seats 6 adults very comfy. great size, unique. You have to get the windows tinted down or it looks stupid. Good on gas, but needs just a little bit bigger engine

ProsSeats fold flat quickly. It handles like a fun car. Brakes stop incredibly sharp increasing safety Sliding doors help kids safely in/ out. Storage space under middle seats when flip out cargo is used. Middle captain seats make kids in third row easy access and open feel ConsThird row for adult female in a pinch limited foot room 4-5in in height. Don't let kids step on door brackets or doors later will lose ease of slide. Small vehicle pulls about 24mpg overall gas w reg gas. Not avail w many options. Finish is underwhelming but saved with great style and function.

Great Family Of Four Vehicle For Occasional Through Kids In 3rd Row Or Cargo Haulin — I love it. It's perfect w our boys now 6 & 8. The back row is best for 5'3" and under. Perfect for those who want functionality of minivan but only have two kids. Versatile. Fold all seats down for full out cargo hauling. A mini mini van Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsWe chose the Mazda5 for our sales distribution business because it does everything well. Decent gas mileage, cargo space, and the five speed manual gives it power where the automatic trannys fail. Good visiblity on all sides of the van and fun to drive. ConsAbnormal rear tire wear due to non adjustable control arms on the back suspension preventing camber and toe in alignment. NAPA sells the adjustable control arms for around $220.00 each so expect this to happen. Take your Mazda5 to a small independent import repair shop or other so that you don't get the run around from the dealers or chain tire stores.

A Well Designed Good Value In A Small Van. — We like the appearance, the comfort is adequate, no blind spots, tight steering and handling, five speed manual is fun to drive, Acceleration is good with five speed manual, braking is normal, cornering is better than other vans we have owned. Once we get past the repair on the rear suspension the van will be a keeper. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsDual rear-sliding doors, rear hatch and 6 seats! ConsCan't get out of it's own way! Painful to drive, just too heavy to be powered by a 4 cylinder. Needs more Zoom-Zoom!

The Mini Mini-van! — So, if you expect a car to have good body integrity with dual rear-sliding doors, you have to enforce it with a lot of metal. Metal is heavy. I would buy this car again in a heartbeat if I could have a real Zoom-Zoom experience, leather seating and a sunroof! Merging onto highways was SCARY! I had a problem with the rear suspension, but it may have been that the previous owner lowered it, replaced the original equipment and accidentally swapped the left set-up with the right. Sounded like I was hauling garbage until it was fixed! Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsIt's not a SUV ConsI have only one

Suits Me — Great drive, extreme luxury, best image (babe magnet) ever! When I drive it, I feel like Prince (small, brown, with a thin line of hair on my upper lip). Able to beat 10G. Afterburner sensation. It even has a window washer/cleaner thing! My wife does not have to push me to get going.
