Pros

Down sized from an 1997 Explorer Eddie Bauer to this and it is nice to fill a vehicle for under $50 and go furthers with it, just hope it still has enough power to tow my toys!

Cons

Rear passenger side door ajar switch is causing the car alarm to go off intermittently during a change in temperature or while driving!  This seems to be an issue with hood and other door ajar switches on the Ford Escapes.

Love My Sporty Little Pretty Blue Suv! — I love it except for the above CON issue! I was wanting to down sized from my Explorer and started a job further from home. What I am saving in gas is making the payments on this vehicle, so it totally made sense to get it. We will just see how it does in toying my toys!

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros

Nice small SUV

Cons

could use a little more power

Good Suv To Run Around In — Great car for the wife and dogs to use small SUV but plenty of room. handles good, V6 needs a little more power. Seats fold down easy to open up the back for moving stuff. overall very nice little SUV to run around in. Seat warmers power button is in a poor location.

Pros

4WD, spacious, power driver seat, audiophile cd-6

Cons

no more 28mpg for me

Time To Escape — For the smaller end of the SUV class, the Escape is very roomy and has alot of storage space. 4WD is big plus for living in CT. The gas mileage is lower than previous car, but that was a given and it's still pretty good for its size.

Pros

Rear seats fold down nicely -- I've been able to fit many items in, surprising friends and family :)  Very sturdy build -- accidentally hit a box of paint cans on the freeway doing about 70 mph and no damage anywhere... also like the 6-disk CD changer that came w/ mine.  Equipped with fog lights :)

Cons

Wish it would get better gas mileage... mine usually gets between 20-25.  Loses power going up steeper inclines (I live in Utah... lots of mountains in some places).    Wish back windows would not be child safety windows (they only roll down 1/2 way).  To have a hitch put on, I believe the whole back bumper system has to be switched out... rather expensive!

Do-able — This is a great vehicle for someone looking for a small SUV but doesn't care to spend a lot of money... Fairly quiet and smooth Spacious Handles about 4/5, acceleration 3/5, braking 5/5.

Pros

Very comfortable car, handles very well in snow or offroad.

Cons

Transmission went out at 63000 miles, warranty ends at 60000. Exhaust manifold also had to be repaired. Sway bar becomes loose easy which makes a constant knocking sound.

Good But... Transmission Problems — Love my escape but the mechanical problems have been very frustrating. Transmission went out at 63,000 miles, exhaust manifold was cracked at 63,000 miles, loose sway bar at 59,000 miles. Drives nicely and is comfortable. The sound system is pretty good as well.

Pros

Need something that has decent cargo capacity.

Cons

Deceptively slow and completely souless

Appliance For Worry Free Commuting. — Has no power whatsoever. Gets decent mileage. Seems high enough quality. Interior is well laid out and at least somewhat tolerable in aesthetics. Has had no problems to date. Good visibility. Larger inside than just about every other compact suv we looked at.

Incredible Vehicle! — I think the ford escape is one the of nicest sport utility vehicles in its category. I have owned for just over a year and have had no major issues with it. It is excellet on the highway and the fuel mileage is great.

It`s A Buy — I like everything about my escape, except that it does not have four wheel disc brakes, i had a flow master muffler installed and put in a K&N air filter and it really moves out now,it`s the bomb

Pros

Low cost SUV performance.

Cons

If you think you need a bigger SUV

Great Car For The Size And The Money! — Though not a full size SUV, the Escape has a lot of room. This car fills all of our needs quite well. The 4 cylinder engine is quite adequate, even on the hills of Pennsylvania. It handles well and brakes quite well. It has not needed any major repairs, I wish I had waited 1 year to buy though as the desogn changed in 2008. More interior room in the '08. Gas milage and mainenance is respectable. It is fun to drive especially in the Winter snow!
