Coming in as the heavier one-ton version of this rear-wheel-drive passenger van, the 2007 Chevrolet Express LS3500 adds more standard safety features to the LS1500's standard-equipment list. This utilitarian van seats 12 in four rows and holds up to 204 cubic feet of cargo. A new 300-hp, 16-valve 6.0-liter V8 and heavy-duty 4-speed automatic transmission put out 360 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 RPM. With the optional towing package, the van can haul up to 9,800 pounds.
The 2007 Express LS3500 includes standard traction and stability control. These join other equipment, such as a front stabilizer bar, 16-inch wheels with all-season tires, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, and dual front airbags with passenger deactivation. The whole package rides on a short and long arm front and solid live axle rear suspension. Various options include an auto-dimming rearview mirror and mirrors with turn signals.
Meant for practicality rather than passenger comfort, the 2007 Express LS3500 features air-conditioning, a radio, tilt and power steering, intermittent front wipers, a front 12V power outlet, and a clock. There is a light in the cargo area, which is accessed via 180-degree rear barn doors. A hinged passenger-side door, for access to the rear seats, is also standard. A manual sliding door costs extra. Available options are power windows, locks, and heated mirrors, leather trim, power front seats, rear climate control, and a 6-CD changer.
